The Wherry Friends have put this page together to help further support families at the Wherry School.
Don't forget that if you can't find what you need you can always talk to someone on the committee who will be happy to help and if they can't will signpost you in the right direction.
It costs three times more to raise a disabled child, as it does to raise a child without disabilities. Which goes a long way to explain why 52% of families with a disabled child are at risk of experiencing poverty.
Although sadly The Wherry Friends cannot do much to directly help this issue, there are charities out there that can help.
The links below will take you directly to their websites. There is also Short Break funding which is provided by Norfolk County Council and Disability Living Allowance.
Its not easy having a child with a disability and it feel extremely isolating. The Wherry Friends run regular coffee mornings both at school and in Norwich for parents to get together. We also will start running a lunch club once a month.
We have a good Facebook page which is just for parents, close family members and school staff which is a great way to keep in touch and ask anything about school that you need to.
There are also places other than school where you can get support, so please don’t suffer alone!
It is so easy to feel completely bogged down with information and even easier to forget it. Below are some helpful links which we hope will help during the school year!
